Donor or not, the choice is yours
Saving lives and improving the quality of life of others: organ and tissue donation is a powerful act of solidarity. Yet many people in Belgium are still unaware that they can freely register their preferences regarding organ donation. Clinic Saint-Jean aims to inform, reassure, and encourage everyone to make an informed decision.
Why register your choice?
In Belgium, every adult is presumed to be a donor, but it is possible — and strongly recommended — to officially record your decision, whether positive or negative.
👉 Doing so helps anticipate difficult moments, clearly communicate your choice, and ease the burden on both families and healthcare teams, who often face these decisions in emotionally challenging situations.
You can register your choice in just a few minutes via the official website:
A dedicated team ready to answer your questions
To mark the Awareness day on organ and tissue donation, Clinic Saint-Jean is organising an information event open to everyone:
📅 Tuesday, April 2, 2026
🕒 From 14:00 to 17:00
📍 Main entrance – site Botanique
The organ donation coordination team will be present to provide information, answer questions, and demystify the process. The tissue bank will also be there to explain the essential role of tissue donation in patient care.
Key figures to keep in mind
- One donor can save up to 8 lives.
- Tissue donation can improve the quality of life of up to 100 people.
- In Belgium, one person dies every three days due to the lack of available organs.
These numbers highlight the crucial importance of donation… and of proper information.
Our slogan: “Donor or not, the choice is yours”
The aim of this awareness day is simple: give everyone the opportunity to get informed, ask questions, and — if they wish — register their decision.
Whether positive or negative, your choice matters — and it should be known.
